Asergis Telecom approaches TDSAT against Airtel to stop it from blocking IN services numbers
In its petition, Asergis Telecom Services has requested the tribunal to restrain the operator from blocking its toll free intelligent network number leased from Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL).
According to the company, Bharti Airtel was blocking its subscribers from accessing its toll-free numbers on grounds that the calls were terminating outside India
It has requested the tribunal to declare the operator's action as illegal and in breach of the unified access service licence. Earlier, Asergis Telecom Services had leased toll-free numbers belonging to the 1800 series from TTSL for audio conferencing. Bharti Airtel and TTSL have an interconnection agreement between them for the same.
In such services, a toll free number is allotted and the caller does not have to pay for the call. The charges are paid by the company holding the 1800 series number.
